What are the motor types and selection standards?

Update:04-08-2021
Summary:...
There are fast, precise, continuous, shifting or non-shifting motion types. Most of these motions are driven by motors. There are suitable motor types for different types of motion. These motor types include: single-phase or three-phase AC series motors, permanent magnet DC brushed motors, brushless DC motors (BLDC) with electronic commutation, gearbox motors (AC/DC/brushless DC gear motor and gearbox organic combination).
Three steps for motor selection:
a. Determine the more suitable motor type according to different sports;
b. After selecting the motor type, the technical specifications and dimensions of the motor need to be determined;
c. Determine the motor type according to the energy regulations of the region or country.
1. Determine the more suitable motor type according to different sports:
For applications that run continuously and rarely change gears, then AC series motors are a better choice.
For discontinuous dynamic applications, then a brushed DC motor or a brushless DC motor is the ideal choice.
For low-speed and high-load applications, the gearbox motor is an inevitable choice, namely: AC series motor/DC motor + gearbox with specific reduction ratio.
For applications that require stepless speed regulation, a brushless DC motor is the best choice.
For applications that require precise positioning, stepper motors are a better choice.

2. After selecting the motor type, the technical specifications and dimensions of the motor need to be determined:
In order to determine the technical specifications, the power, torque and speed of the motor need to be determined first.
In order to determine the size, you must know the size of the motor and how to install it (how to fix it in the system?).
When choosing the size and robustness of the motor, the industrial environment in which the motor works must also be considered: each environment (explosion, humidity, corrosion, high and low temperature, etc.) has a different design.
For harsh environments, it is necessary to add a waterproof, dust-proof and shock-proof enclosure to the motor.

3. Consider the specific energy regulations of the region or country to determine the motor type:
The higher the energy efficiency of the motor, the more energy-saving the corresponding product, which can help customers improve the competitive advantage of the product in the market.
